How to kill this big tree?

I have a tree in my front yard and my wont let me cut it down. Its ugly and its covers the whole view of the house so yeah. Ive been looking on google and didnt get a clear way to do it. Would just using the chainsaw and making a small cut at the trunk kill it or not? Thanks for the tips!
