Why did Mike Huckabee and Karl Rove Say on Fox news GOP should take the deal?

Mike Huckabee said on Fox Business that the Republicans are seriously damaging their shot to take the white house in 2012 if they let this go to shutdown. Karl Rove also said this would have the 1994 effect that seriously damaged republicans. Mike Huckabee said " As bad as I want to see planned parent hood defunded, We only control the house and the senate. And the Republicans are insane to believe that Barack Will sign off to cancel either of those. We should Focus on that after 2012 is over". Is he just looking after his bid for president? Or is he sending some sort of warning?
